[Poland] Deadline for PPK implementation postponed by 6 months

According to the anti-crisis shield Act adopted by the Sejm, medium-sized companies will have six months more to launch the PPK programme. The new deadline for concluding the contract for managing PPK is October 27, 2020.

Companies with 50-249 employees (as of 30 June 2019) were included in the PPK programme on 1 January 2020. According to the previous regulations, April was the deadline for concluding the contract for the PPK management, and 11 May for concluding the contract for running the Employee Capital Plans.

Employee Capital Plans – new deadlines

According to the Act adopted by the Sejm

  • 10.2020 – conclusion of the PPK management contract (previous deadline 24.04.2020)
  • 11.2020 – conclusion of the PPK running contract (previous deadline 11.05.2020)

Medium-sized companies that have already signed contracts for the PPK management will not bear costs for this. Only the conclusion of a contract for the running Employee Capital Plans will result in the necessity to pay fees. Companies that have already concluded a contract for PPK management and have submitted the first list of participants are, however, obliged to pay contributions and do not have the possibility to discontinue payments.

In accordance with PFR data, by March 2020 nearly 5,000 companies with 50-249 employees, i.e. about 25% of the entities covered by this obligation in the second stage, had already signed contracts for PPK management.

Stage III of the PPK without changes

Only the second stage of the Employee Capital Plans is changed according to the adopted Act. In accordance with the regulations in force, from July 1, 2020, the PPK programme will cover companies with 20 – 49 employees (as of 31.12.2019), i.e. about 58 thousand entities. Thus, the deadlines for concluding contracts for PPK management and running will be the same for companies from the second and third stage of the programme.

From 1 January 2021, the obligation to launch PPK will cover other entities and units of the public finance sector (regardless of the size of employment).
